No not even, Weleda. Organic skincare doesn’t mean they have the best ingredients for your skin.

have you read the ingredients in your skincare?

Just because your skincare products are organic doesn’t mean that the manufacturer uses the best ingredients for your skin. Yes, even “Weleda.”

Have you ever read each ingredient in your lotion, tonic, or cream used for your hair or after-shave treatment? You may have noticed that alcohol is added with loads of preservatives for most products to prolong the shelf-life.

Alcohol is the worst thing you would want to put on your hair or face. It causes dehydration. The same goes for preservatives. The skin is our largest organ. If we keep putting chemicals in our skin, our body is detoxifying the chemical instead of being nourished.

Large companies that produce skincare have to consider extending the shelf-life before the product reaches its customer. They also are busy making revenue and minimizing costs. So sadly, even with organic skincare products today, the same strategy is seen throughout.

Always check the expiry date and also the production date. Most of the time, you can only see the expiry date. But if the expiry date is too soon, ditch it! You always want to get the freshest skincare product. If you are buying from mass-produced companies, getting it fresh from their factory is not usually possible.

Look for small scaled, local, artisan skincare. They are often produced in tiny quantities. So you might notice these skincare shops run out of stock fast or they are never in stock. Also be sure to check the ingredients for any chemical additives or preservatives, and also ask the producers on the freshness and storage.
